The area known as the Southern Wilderlands takes up virtually all of the land area of the continent Phaara south of the equator. It is mainly unpopulated deserts, jungles and rainforests. The southern branch of the Oannis Mountains, called the Arnera Mountains, runs from the Wilderlands' north-east (near Taasha and Tsarnon) in a south-westernly direction until it approaches Phaara's southern coastline.
The Southern Badlands lie to the Wilderlands' north, creating a natural barrier between the Wilderlands and the countries of Juk and Kohlmer. There are rumours of wild men living in the Wilderlands. However, most of the people that make the Wilderlands their home live in relatively small, scattered "kingdoms" that are little more than city-states, and most of these are along or near the southern coastline.
